Kathryn Loomis, Licensed Acupuncturist, M.Ac.
Kathryn is a licensed acupuncturist in both Massachusetts and Connecticut, with a diplomate in Chinese Herbology (NCCAOM). Her Chinese medical studies began at the New England School of Acupuncture, where she graduated with a Masters degree in Acupuncture and a certificate of study in Chinese herbal medicine in 1997.
For over seven years Kathryn had a private practice offering acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Connecticut (Glastonbury and Old Saybrook). She has interrupted her clinical practice twice, first to pursue advanced studies in Chinese herbal medicine in Taiwan and China and next to work directly with Chinese herbs (purchasing, quality testing, and inventory management) at a Chinese herb company in Berkeley, CA.
In the course of her studies, Kathryn had the unique opportunity to study Chinese medicine in its language and culture of origin (China). In Taiwan she advanced her Chinese language skills to fluency in medical Chinese. She then spent two years of advanced Chinese herbal clinical study at the Beijing Traditional Chinese Medical University, observing at the outpatient hospital clinics for internal medicine and gynecology.
Kathryn is currently enrolled in a two year training program in Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy, and looks forward to integrating craniosacral therapy with her acupuncture practice at the completion of the training.
